A $22-million long-term care facility has officially opened in Radville, Sask., six years after the provincial government announced it would be replacing 13 long-term care centres across the province. The Radville Marian Health Centre features 25 long-term care beds, five of which are multi-purpose (used for observation, respite or palliative care), and emergency services.

The Government of Saskatchewan covered 80 per cent of the facility’s construction costs ($17.6-million) with the remaining financing provided by local contributions ($4.4-million).

“We are pleased to see this exciting step forward in improving long-term care infrastructure in our province,” says Dustin Duncan, Saskatchewan’s Health Minister. “It is our government’s priority to ensure long-term care residents have a safe and comfortable place to live. This modern facility will create a better work environment for health providers to provide patient-centred care.”

The new facility, which replaces the old Radville Marian Health Centre, incorporates an attached medical clinic.

Since the province announced their $200-million investment in long-term care centre replacement, eight projects have been completed. Four are currently under construction and one is in the planning stage.
