Construction is already underway on The Aerospace Centre, a new, state-of-the-art business aircraft fixed-base facility at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The facility, to be located on Convair Drive adjacent to runway 24L-06R, will open in stages starting in 2016 and is expected to be fully operational in early 2017.
The facility will be operated by Aligned Aviation Airport Development Services and will consist of about 250,000 square feet of hangar and FBO-related office and shop facilities. It will be home to both management companies and independent corporate flight departments and will feature a complete range of facilities, including meeting, office, recreational, rest and working space. It will also include an upper-level food and beverage space and event area with a deck and view of nearby runways.
The Aligned Aviation Aerospace Centre is a project by EllisDon, with IBI as lead architects with design consultation by Patkau Architects of Vancouver. Future phases of the facility will include an atrium with related commercial office towers and convention spaces.
