ENGIE Services awarded hospital IFM contract

Friday, July 29, 2016

ENGIE Services has been awarded a 32-year contract to deliver integrated facility management (IFM) services to the upcoming Phase 1 patient tower at William Osler Health System’s Etobicoke General Hospital in Toronto. Construction will begin on the new patient care tower in summer 2016, and is expected to be completed in mid-2018.

This public-private partnership contract was jointly won with the company’s subsidiary ENGIE MultiTech (formerly known as Cofely Adelt), a multi-service mechanical contractor based in Toronto.

“Our success on this project is a demonstration of our existing experience in providing tailored IFM services across Canada,” said Pierre Loyer, ENGIE Services’ vice president of business development, in a press release. “This agreement builds on our growing presence in the Ontario market and helps reinforce our leadership position in the FM market. We are proud to play a key role in this sustainable transformational expansion project that is central to the wellbeing of the growing Toronto community.”

At its completion, the phase 1 patient tower will span 250,000 square feet across four storeys. The state-of-the-art facility will house services most needed by the community, including a larger emergency department, an expanded ICU/CCU, larger patient rooms, a maternal newborn unit and an ambulatory procedures unit. The patient tower was designed with sustainability in mind and the goal of achieving Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification.

As part of the Etobicoke Healthcare Partnership (EHP), ENGIE Services will provide hard and soft FM services, energy management and lifecycle for the full term of its contract. Meanwhile, ENGIE MultiTech will deliver all mechanical and plumbing construction for the new facility, including building management system and medical gas.

“This is the first contract of its kind jointly won with our parent company ENGIE Services,” added Louie Cosolo, CEO of ENGIE MultiTech. “Having both mechanical contractor and facilities management under the same umbrella is quite beneficial since the alignment of interest from construction to operation of the facility is shared by all parties.”
