Ottawa’s Rideau Centre is embarking on a $360-million redevelopment project that will revitalize the 30-year-old shopping centre.
“The significant changes underway will elevate the shopping experience for customers and reaffirm Rideau Centre’s position as Ottawa’s leading shopping centre,” says Sal Iacono, senior vice-president of development and portfolio management at Cadillac Fairview Corp. Ltd., which owns and manages the mall.
The four-level expansion will add 230,000 square feet of leasable space to the centre. This will make room for new retailers, including Simons, Nordstrom, Victoria’s Secret and J. Crew. A 35,000-square-foot food court will also be added, with 16 restaurants and seating for 850.
Improvements include refurbishment of the mall’s façade on Rideau Street and the addition of a three-level underground parking garage. The interior, which will also be completely renovated, will feature new quartz flooring, enhanced lighting and glass guardrails.
The redevelopment is expected to be complete in 2016.
I hope that they include movies theatres at the Rideau centre expansion.
