David Podmore, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Concert Properties Ltd., has been appointed to the Order of British Columbia for his leadership in the real estate and construction industry spanning four decades.
In addition to his work at Concert, which has grown to hold assets in excess of $2 billion, Podmore’s numerous contributions include serving as Chair of the B.C. Pavilion Corporation between 2007 and 2012, ensuring completion of the Vancouver Convention Centre expansion in preparation for the 2010 Vancouver Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, as well as restoration of B.C. Place Stadium.
In the 1980s, as Vice-President of Planning, Design and Engineering for B.C. Place Ltd., Podmore developed the comprehensive master plan for the Expo lands in Vancouver for Expo 86. He is a past president of the Greater Vancouver Home Builders’ Association and of the Urban Development Institute. He currently serves as Chair of the B.C. Children’s Hospital Foundation.
The Order of British Columbia is considered the province’s most prestigious accolade, bestowed upon only a select few who have contributed to the province in extraordinary ways.
