Seven new retailers join Toronto’s Canary District

Tuesday, April 7, 2015

Seven new retailers are set to inhabit The Canary District in Toronto, a community built for CIBC Athletes Village at the 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Games.

The new retailers are Dark Horse Espresso Bar, Fuel Plus, OpusGlow Concept Spa, Pizza e Pazzi, Tabule Middle Eastern Cuisine, The Running Room and Think Fitness Studio.

“We are attracting the ‘best of the best’ retail operators,” said Jason Lester, president of Dundee Kilmer, which helped secure the businesses. “We know this mix of services will go a long way towards contributing to the healthy lifestyle of Canary District residents and the positive well-being and atmosphere of this engaged neighbourhood.”

LiveWorkLearnPlay Inc. partnered with Dundee Kilmer in the retail venture, approaching the selection of commercial tenants as it did with the Distillery District.

“We curated the ground floor retail uses by choosing amongst the best and most appropriate operators to fit within the health and wellness theme of the Canary District,” said Rob Spanier, partner and principal at LiveWorkPlay.

For example, when fully built, the 46,000 square feet of ground floor retail space along Cherry Street and Bayview Avenue will be home to Think Fitness Studio, a highly personalized studio specializing in small group training and one on one personal training.
