Facility management company Cofely Services Inc. (Cofely) has been selected to manage a new Civic Operations Centre (COC) in Saskatoon, Sask., which is slated to enter construction this spring.
Since approval, Cofely has been involved in the design, overall infrastructure resilience, product selection, energy usage and operational efficiencies of the COC. As part of their 25-year contract, Cofely will provide building maintenance, refurbishment and renewal services.
“We are excited about the opportunity to strengthen our position in P3 projects in Canada,” says François Dépelteau, President and CEO of Cofely. “This is a strategic contract for us, as we will be providing an integrated suite of FM services to our client and assuming the lifecycle responsibility throughout the term of the contract.”
Cofely was selected to manage the facility as part of a $160-million public-private partnership (P3) contract awarded by the Saskatoon City Council to Integrated Team Solutions (ITS), a consortium led by EllisDon Capital Inc. and Fengate Capital. Under the consortium, Kasian Architecture, EllisDon Corporation and Cofely will work together to design, build, finance, and manage the COC.
Developed in phases, the COC will house a Transit Operations Facility and a permanent Snow Management Facility. Located on a 180-acre site, the centre, which replaces a 100-year-old transit facility, is expected to be fully operational by early 2017.
