A second condo in the Highland Commons two-building development has launched, following a four-day sell-out of the first building.
The boutique condo marks Altree Developments’ first residential project in Scarborough and is up for a 2022 BILD award for best mid-rise design.
Building B, as its called, features walk-up townhomes paired with units that range from studios to three-bedroom suites, all offering variations of accessible layouts and each named after vintage cars. Kohn Architects designed the eight -storey residence with a co-working lounge, life-size chess, a squash, and a basketball court.
“Single-detached homes make up roughly 80 per cent of the housing surrounding Highland Commons, making it incredibly difficult for first-time homebuyers and downsizers to be a part of this fantastic neighbourhood,” says Jordan DeBrincat Mintzas, vice-president of Altree Developments.
Streams and trails run behind the residence and travel southward to Lake Ontario. Colonel Danforth Park, one Toronto’s largest parks, is adjacent to the site. The 500-metre-long Valley Land trail connects the University of Toronto’s Scarborough campus to Highland Commons and is fully accessible.
A private shuttle bus will carry residents to the nearby GO station, into Toronto’s financial district and beyond.
“Our vision was to create a diverse offering of suite designs and amenities that supports an active urban lifestyle,” says Zev Mandelbaum, founder of Altree Developments. “The launch of Highland Commons was met with a great deal of support and positive feedback.”
