AVG Technologies, makers of online security technology for more than 200 million monthly users, has opened the doors to its new state-of-the-art AVG Business facility in Ottawa, Ont. The company’s Global Center of Excellence for Managed Workplace caters to the small-to-medium business (SMB) market and will house more than 140 technical, sales and management staff in a 34,400-square-foot facility.

“We chose Ottawa as the AVG Business Global Center of Excellence because of the workforce talent and our confidence in the region, which are key ingredients in our focused customer support and development strategy,” Marco La Vecchia, AVG’s vice president, Americas, said in a press release. “AVG is increasingly focused on SMBs because we know the number of attacks on SMBs nearly doubled since 2011. Also, the trend to mobile and flexible working conditions within businesses continues to rise. This highlights the need for the facilities and technology that would allow us to continue such growth, as well as the need for additional employees.”

The opening of this facility follows the addition of three AVG Business offices in the DACH, Nordics and Brazil regions in 2014.
