Bentall Kennedy was recently honoured with the 2015 REME Award in the Corporate Responsibility category by the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM).
The award, which recognized Bentall Kennedy’s ForeverGreen strategy, was celebrated during IREM’s recent Executive Edge Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The ForeverGreen initiatives focus on reducing the amount of refuse sent to landfills while driving improvements in waste diversion numbers. Other initiatives include an E-Waste Challenge for shopping centers during Earth Week, a “coffee footprint” program to repurpose coffee grounds into sustainable soil, and a program to repurpose diseased trees into valuable wood products.
The IREM REME Award for Corporate Responsibility recognizes exemplary and innovative business practices that have an exceptional impact on sustainability and individuals.
Cheryl Gray, CPM and senior vice-president of residential at Bentall Kennedy, accepted the award.
