The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Canada recently introduced BOMA BESt Health Care, its sixth BOMA BESt module, designed to address the needs of managers and operators of health care facilities.
To help such buildings achieve a certified commitment to the environment while identifying operational improvements and cost savings, the new module will focus on challenges and prospects particular to the health care sector, such as medical waste disposal, healing environments for patients and sustainable food purchasing practices.
Additionally, this module will also evaluate the same key areas of green building performance and management seen in other BOMA BESt modules—from environmental management systems implementation to energy performance and management.
As of December 31, 2013, more than 3,500 buildings across Canada have achieved BOMA BESt certification or recertification.
