Calgary Marriott earns green meetings rating

Monday, August 24, 2015

Following the recent renovation at the Calgary Marriott Downtown, the property has been awarded a 3 Green Key Meeting rating by the Green Key Meetings organization, announced Marriott Hotels & Resorts Canada in a press release.

This certification recognizes the property’s moves toward creating meeting and event facilities and practices that protect the environment. The hotel’s event spaces have implemented environmental initiatives to reduce the negative impact large meetings have on the environment, such as energy and water consumption, travel and transportation, food and beverage, handouts, garbage and more.

The renovation expanded the hotel’s meeting space to 10,500 square feet, giving it new rooms with a modern yet neutral palette suited to functions as diverse as AGMS and weddings. Its flexible and varied spaces can accommodate events small and large, from 14-person boardroom meetings to 300-person business presentations.

“Not only are we advancing meetings into the future, we’re securing that future with our green initiatives,” said Joseph Clohessy, hotel general manager, in a press release.
