Canada’s LEED certified projects hit 2000

Tuesday, January 27, 2015

There are now 2000 LEED certified projects in Canada, according to the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC).

CaGBC says it reached this momentous amount towards the end of 2014, after registered projects had amounted to 5000.

As of January 2015, LEED certified and registered projects are listed at 2,041 and 5,187, respectively. These numbers also reflect a jump in LEED Gold projects, which increased by 10.9 per cent from 2013.

“As we move into 2015, our work will continue, with a focus on supporting the market in building on these achievements and aiming for higher performance with LEED version 4,” says Thomas Mueller, president and chief executive officer of the CaGBC. “The focus will be also on increasing the health and well-being benefits for building occupants and better quality of life for all Canadians.”

CaGBC summed up the totals of each LEED certification level for 2014, which include 129 LEED Certified, 188 LEED Silver, 193 LEED Gold and 28 LEED Platinum.
