Friday, September 18, 2015

Cion Corp., a company that provides technical services for the property and facility management industry as part of the Ingenium Group, has acquired Coulter Building Consultants Ltd., a Burlington, Ont.-based group of consulting engineers and building scientists.

Coulter Building Consultants specializes in the assessment and problem correction of multi-unit residential, commercial, institutional and recreational properties. The company works with building owners and property managers to address issues in the design, maintenance and rehabilitation of existing structures.

“This important acquisition is in line with Cion’s corporate strategy of focused and measured expansion of its building sciences services,” said Victor Smith, president and CEO of Ingenium Group Inc., in a press release. “We recognize the value of the brand that founder Kim Coulter has built and are confident that its market reach will help Cion leverage its excellent technical capabilities.”

Following the acquisition, the company will be known as Cion|Coulter and operate out of Burlington and Toronto. Kim Coulter will stay on as president, focusing on business development and growth. Whereas Coulter Building Consultants previously concentrated on the Burlington, Oakville, Hamilton and Niagara regions, it will be able to expand its reach in the important Toronto condo market with a local office and staff.

“I believe that this transaction offers a lot of promise for both organizations,” said Coulter in a press release. “By combining forces with Cion, we’ve created a company that shares our passion for technical excellence and client service with a strong desire to be a dominant player in the Ontario building sciences market.”

Cion|Coulter will continue to focus on technical analysis and project management services for the maintenance, remediation and repair of residential, commercial and institutional buildings.
