A new volunteer council, gleaning insight and experience from all commercial real estate disciplines, is exhorting the industry to better reflect the society in which it operates. The CREED — an acronym for: commercial real estate equity and diversity — Council will share its message via an introductory online panel discussion on June 17.
With the leadership of 22 directors in senior management roles, the CREED Council has a mission to expand the scope of people and perspectives in commercial real estate, and to provide guidance and resources to help foster that outcome. Thus far, 12 organizations, including commercial real estate companies, industry associations and service providers, have signed on as partners in the effort.
“Our vision is to strengthen the commitment of the commercial real estate industry and transform its ability to innovate its thinking and embrace inclusive community building — through wholeheartedly embracing the value of diversity,” the CREED Council website states.
Celina Caesar-Chavannes, a strategic advisor on equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) initiatives, author and adjunct lecturer at Queen’s University, will moderate the panel discussion with: Sonny Kalsi, chief executive officer of BentallGreenOak; Andrea Del Zotto, director and executive vice president with Tridel; Pino Di Mascio, head of impact strategy and delivery at Dream; and Sunita Mahant, head of global initiatives, equity, diversity and inclusion, and senior director, legal affairs, at Ivanhoé Cambridge.
