There have been huge increases in listings for U.S. cleaning and maintenance jobs looking for janitorial and other maintenance staff in recent weeks, according to on-demand staff labour company PeopleReady.
As people return to in-person work and a variety of businesses reopen in a climate in which there is an increased focus on cleaning for health and enhance disinfection, the industry is seeing a hiring surge and immediate opportunities for jobseekers.
According to a PeopleReady analysis of cleaning and maintenance jobs postings, over 160,000 cleaning and maintenance jobs related to keeping workplaces clean have been posted across the U.S. in the last month alone.
The analysis of hundreds of thousands of job postings over the last 30 days found that some of the fastest-growing jobs related to office and store reopenings include:
- Cleaning crew member jobs saw an increase of 364 per cent in the last 30 days
- Housekeeping associate jobs for retail spaces soared 300 per cent
- Custodial assistant jobs rose 200 per cent
- Building cleaner, janitor and general cleaner jobs jumped 80 per cent
