Tuesday, August 27, 2013

Public Works and Government Services Canada’s Douglas Jung building in downtown Vancouver has been certified LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) gold in the category of Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance (EB:O&M).

Located at 401 Burrard St., the 19-storey federal office tower features low-flow plumbing fixtures, reduced mercury in lamps, a green housekeeping program and sustainable purchasing policies for facility alterations and food purchases. Additionally, 80 per cent of new equipment is Energy Star certified.

SNC-Lavalin is the service provider for the building. The company ensures it runs at a 93 per cent Energy Star rating.

The LEED EB:O&M certification is the first for Public Works and Government Services Canada.
