Evelyn Sutherland, Enercare Inc.’s chief financial officer, has been named a Women’s Executive Network (WXN) 2016 Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award winner.
Sutherland joined Enercare in August 2011 and as a member of its executive team, has helped lead the company through a period of dramatic growth, both in size and revenue. In addition to her role at Enercare, Sutherland currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Mental Health Association, York Region and South Simcoe Branch and serves as the Treasurer and Chair of the Audit Committee.
“I am honoured to have been named as a WXN Top 100 Award Winner,” said Sutherland in a press release. “Enercare has made many positive strides in achieving gender parity among management and executive staff. With approximately 50 per cent of women at the executive level, Enercare has created an environment for women at all levels to be successful.”
The WXN Top 100 Awards were launched in 2003 to celebrate the accomplishments of the country’s top female executives as well as their organizations and networks. It recognizes women in senior positions in Canada’s public, private and not-for-profit sectors. Nominees were selected based on vision and leadership throughout their careers, as well as their contributions to their organization’s corporate performance, management and strategic direction, and community service.
“I am very proud of Evelyn. This is such a great accomplishment and so well deserved,” said John Macdonald, Enercare president and CEO. “She has, and continues to be, a key leader for our brand and has been instrumental in not only driving our results, but has been such a valuable contributor to our corporate vision and culture, helping to shape the direction of our organization.”
Sutherland was presented with the Scotiabank Corporate Executives Award during a gala event that took place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on November 24.
