Gemterra Developments Corporation recently broke ground on Joy Condos, a 22-storey condominium tower slated for 195 Bonis Ave. in Scarborough. This location puts the development along the Sheppard Avenue corridor and next to another Gemterra development, Love Condominiums.

“Today’s groundbreaking marks our commitment to continue with our high quality projects in this bustling pocket of Scarborough,” said Yan Wang, vice president, Gemterra Developments Corporation, in a press release. “Once complete, Joy and Love will be home to hundreds of new families and residents establishing their roots in this area, which we are very proud to be a part of.”

Joy Condos will feature a communal courtyard with BBQ patio, fitness centre with state-of-the-art equipment, aerobics/yoga room, indoor swimming pool and hot tub with change rooms and saunas. The development will also feature a sustainably landscaped 4,000-square-foot green roof terrace with a track looping around a large garden.

Local city councillor Norm Kelly, who represents Ward 40 Scarborough-Agincourt, was among the community leaders present for the groundbreaking ceremony.

“The Scarborough community is continually evolving and Joy Condos plays a key role in shaping its future,” said Coun. Kelly in a press release. “With developers like Gemterra bringing modern and affordable residential options in our area, we are building communities for the next generation.”

Joy Condos are due to be completed in fall 2018.
