The Ontario Healthcare Housekeeping Association (OHHA) has rebranded as the Canadian Healthcare Housekeepers Association (HHA) to reflect the nationwide extent of its work.
The HHA has been expanding its mission to embody healthcare housekeeping and environmental services professionals across Canada.
Formed in 1957, OHHA has been dedicated to the advancement of the healthcare housekeeping and environmental services profession as an integral part of the healthcare team caring for patients, residents, staff and visitors in hospitals and long-term care facilities in Ontario.
Back in October 2020, the then-OHHA merged with ISSA to become a division of ISSA Canada.
A HHA statement says that “as the HHA, we can now fulfill our forefathers’ goal of becoming the leader and national voice of professional healthcare housekeepers across Canada.”
The HHA will now offer opportunities nationally for housekeeping /environmental services supervisors, managers, team leads and frontline staff through standardized educational programs, expanded resources, and networking opportunities.
The Canadian Healthcare Housekeepers Association will make its debut at the upcoming ISSA Show Canada being held on June 17, 2021, in a special sponsored education session. With a host of new cleaning and disinfection protocols becoming the norm moving forward through the remainder of the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond, cleaning and disinfection expert, Mark Heller, will outline the “Challenges of Infection Prevention and Control from an Environmental Services Perspective.”
