K.R. Moeller Associates Ltd., a developer and manufacturer of sound masking technology, is discontinuing its AccuMask Sound Masking System, first introduced in 2005, to instead focus on its networked system, the LogiSon Acoustic Network.
Within one year of LogiSon’s introduction in 2003, approximately 95 per cent of KRM’s business revolved around that system, yet the company continued to maintain the AccuMask line, primarily to support its original decentralized product, the SCAMP Sound Masking System. However, following the introduction of the LogiSon TARGET, it became obvious that the difference in performance was becoming too great.
“We firmly believe the time has come for all centralized and decentralized sound masking systems to be shelved,” said Niklas Moeller, vice president at K.R. Moeller Associates Ltd., in a press release. “From testing performed with LogiSon TARGET< we know that even small variations in the masking sound have a great impact on performance – in some cases even halving speech privacy. Any possible savings gained from using older masking architectures aren’t worth these performance sacrifices. After all, clients are investing in the benefits of improved speech privacy and noise control, not the pleasure of owning equipment.”
According to Moeller, since the launch of LogiSon and the new networked technology, the market has opted against older and less flexible technologies in favour of modern capabilities.
“In an industry that too often continues to provide outdated technology, we hope to set an example through our decision to discontinue the AccuMask System – to continue to lead,” added Moeller. “We look back with both pride and fondness at a technology that supported our company and our clients for so many years, but know that it’s time to move forward.”
In keeping with the company’s five-year warranty offered alongside the AccuMask Sound Masking System, KRM will continue to provide replacement parts for existing units until November 30, 2020.
