One of Victoria’s landmark hotels, Executive House, will re-open this spring as the new DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and Suites Victoria following the completion of a multi-million dollar property-wide renovation. Designed by Praxis Architects, the property will mark the first hotel from the Hilton Worldwide portfolio to open on Vancouver Island. Interiors were by BBA Designers.
Upon opening, DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and Suites Victoria will offer 181 guestrooms all equipped with refrigerators and microwaves. Ideally-suited to families and corporate travelers, 89 of the guestrooms are suites featuring a convenience kitchen, living room, dining area and separate bedroom.
The dramatic renovation will mark one of the largest hotel renovations in Victoria’s history, generating more than 150 jobs in the local construction industry.
“This is a massive undertaking and terrific news for the Executive House and the Victoria tourism industry,” said Francis Mairet, MBA principal of Mairet Consulting and Management and general manager for the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and Suites Victoria.
Victoria is the seventh DoubleTree location in Canada and second in B.C., after Kamloops. Hilton has 4,200 hotels in 93 countries under 12 brands. The Executive House was built in 1964 as a hotel and apartment complex by local entrepreneur Derryck Jackson.
