Le Vistal II building on Montreal’s Nuns’ Island has received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification from the Canada Green Building Council.
This is the second LEED certification for Proment Corporation’s Le Vistal development. Le Vistal I tower received the certification in 2011, and was the first residential building in the province the target the LEED certification. Les Vistal towers are the largest residential buildings that use geothermal heating and cooling in Quebec.
As a result of the environmental investments made to Le Vistal, residents of the two towers see energy bills that are on average 35 per cent lower than comparable buildings.
“Le Vistal has become the benchmark for green construction in Quebec, which goes to show that when you’re willing to take risks, it’s possible to change how things are done in residential construction,” says Josée Lupien, chairman of the board of the Canada Green Building Council.
