New Mosaic Stadium planned for Regina

Monday, June 16, 2014

The Saskatchewan Roughriders will have a new stadium to call home in 2017. The CFL team’s new Mosaic Stadium in Regina will seat 33,000, but can be expanded to accommodate up to 40,000 during special events.

The facility, located three blocks west of the current Mosaic Stadium, will cost about $278 million to build.

HKS Architects designed the stadium, which will span 521,866 square feet. It will include wider individual seats, a sunken bowl to ease spectator access, expansive concourses, concession and hospitality offerings, as well as 38 suites for corporate partners.

“We have designed the stadium to provide 360-degree access and the entry points are at grade which means we have lowered the majority of the seating area into the ground,” says Mark Williams, principle at HKS Architects. “The benefit of that is that 68 per cent of fans will be walking into the stadium and then going down to their seats instead of up. This also means that the height of the stadium will be lower.”
