Réseau Sélection, the largest private-sector owner, operator, developer, builder and buyer of retirement residences in Quebec, announced it will invest $250 million toward the construction of five new retirement communities in Rock Forest, Vaudreuil-Dorion, Deux‑Montagnes, Granby and Sainte-Dorothée.
The new projects will generate over 1,000 jobs during the construction phase and 250 more during the operations phase. Nearly 1,200 residential units will be developed. With this investment, Réseau Sélection will have invested a total of $600 million as part of the company’s $2-billion five-year plan announced in 2015, which involves the construction of 30 new communities and 18,000 units by 2020.
“Thanks to a real estate platform that is unique in Canada and based on a vertically integrated business model, we have carved a position as a designer of lifestyles, enabling our residents to realize their dreams,” said Réal Bouclin, Founder and President. “I am very proud that our company has become an economic force and an undeniable vector for social change in Quebec. Investing means investing oneself. That has guided my vision and this is what motivates my team and myself to make each of our projects a reference in terms of ethics, respect, benevolence, integrity, creativity and excellence.”
More than a retirement residence
Canada’s aging population has been a much-discussed phenomenon in Quebec in recent years and it is now a reality. It is behind the explosion in demand for various residential formulas. Today’s retirees are not what they used to be. Baby boomers, for instance, envision a much more active and rewarding retirement. More than just security, they want living spaces that allow them to be independent, focus on their health, continue to do the things they love and even engage in new activities, all under one roof.
Carefully selected locations
The five communities will be built on exceptional sites that will enable residents to take advantage of a privileged location. For example, two of them – Deux-Montagnes and Sainte-Dorothée – will boast a waterside location, while the one in Vaudreuil-Dorion will be at the heart of a shopping area and the Granby complex.
Aside from their strategic placements, the communities will also have a polished modern architecture tailored to their environment. They will offer retirees a new type of retirement living without having to move from their community, as well as beautiful surroundings and an impressive array of services geared towards preventative health care and awareness of healthy life habits.
“With these new projects, we reiterate our commitment to spare no effort in offering residents certainty that they have made an informed decision about the life they want to lead,” said Gaétan Cormier, Réseau Sélection Executive Vice-President, Development. “They are free to pursue a retirement without restrictions, in a beautiful, modern new apartment where their needs are considered in terms of both location and architecture, in the heart of an inspired and inspiring community, with stimulating activities for their enjoyment. That is the experience we offer in our residences.”
