Ontario is investing $580,000 in community agencies to provide better, safer and more accessible facilities for Scarborough residents.

As part of the Partner Facility Renewal program, the province will provide the investment for repairs and renovations at seven local non-profit agencies located in Scarborough that provide services to people with developmental disabilities and women and children experiencing violence.

“Community agencies here in Scarborough and across the province are providing vital residential supports and developmental services for families, and shelter services for women who need a safe haven for themselves and their children,” said Dr. Helena Jaczek, Minister of Community and Social Services, in a press release. “We need to ensure the facilities they depend on are safe, secure and in good repair.”

Through the Partner Facility Renewal program, Ontario has invested close to $36 million towards upgrades and repairs at over 350 community agencies across the province, including $28 million that was distributed last summer and close to $8 million that was distributed in December.
