The Professional Retail Store Maintenance Association (PRSM) is marking a milestone 20th anniversary, having evolved over the past two decades in step with the retail industry’s need for facilities management expertise. After starting out as an informal gathering of retail facilities management professionals, PRSM has grown to more than 3,400 individual members representing nearly 1,000 local and national retailers and their supplier companies from across the United States and Canada.
“PRSM’s founders provided the early guidance that today delivers a wealth of valuable information and business opportunities to our industry every day,” observes Bryan Walker, president of the PRSM board of directors for 2015-2016.
Serving as an educational and networking hub, PRSM provides workshops, conferences, certification and industry reports to support retailers in a highly competitive market. Drawing on the strengths of its membership, it produces the annual Best Practices guide, in which industry professionals outline their own experiences, challenges, innovations and problem-solving solutions on a range of facilities management and maintenance topics.
“We are dedicated to offering excellent information and events to keep our members updated and educated on the latest trends that will enable them to excel today and be prepared for the industry’s changing environment that will impact them in the future,” says Patricia Dameron, PRSM’s executive director.
