Québec City adds prime EV charging station

Monday, February 2, 2015

Visitors of Place Québec in Québec City can now charge their electric vehicles (EV) in the parking lot of the shopping and business complex.

The Electric Circuit, Québec’s largest public charging network, teamed up with Industrial Alliance insurance and financial services to install the charging stations on Boulevard René-Lévesque East.

As the Electric Circuit provides necessary infrastructure for plug-in EVs, stations in the province have been adding up. There are now 360, including eight fast-charge stations, located in various parking lots like Metro grocery stores.

Users can access services to find charging stations, as well as dial a 24/7 help line run by CAA-Québec.

With this current installation, Pierre-Luc Desgagné, vice-president of public and government affairs at Hydro-Québec, said the objective is to densify the network in and around Québec City. The parking lot is also a prime spot.

“We chose the Place Québec parking lot for its prime location and its accessibility at any time of day or night, every day of the week,” said Claude Tessier, vice-president of real estate services at Industrial Alliance.

Since Electric Circuit launched in 2012, about 99 private and institutional partners have joined the initiative.
