SMG, a world-renowned facility management company, has signed a contract with Lubbock Entertainment and Performing Arts Association (LEPAA) to operate the Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences, a performance venue located in downtown Lubbock, Texas. SMG will also schedule and book performances, program special events and manage all aspects of the venue’s day-to-day operations.

“LEPAA is thrilled to partner with this dynamic venue management company with its national and international expertise to oversee the operations of this splendid performing arts center,” said Tim Collins, LEPAA board chairman, in a press release.

The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences will feature a 2,200-seat multi-purpose main theatre, a 425-capacity smaller theatre and a divisible flat-floor multi-purpose room. LEPAA plans to use the venue for the presentation of the highest quality local, national and international entertainment and artistic performances.

SMG, founded in 1977, is based in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, and is considered the “gold standard” of public facility management. It provides services such as sports and entertainment booking, convention centre services, facility marketing, naming rights and sponsorship development, facility design and daily operations. Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences will be just one of 230 facilities that the company manages worldwide, 62 of which are performing arts centres or theatres.

SMG also operates Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center in Midland, Texas. Due to its close proximity to Lubbock, the entire region of West Texas will benefit thanks to the large number of visitors and large array of performances these two venues will attract.

“Managing both facilities will provide one-stop shopping for agents, managers and promoters as they route their events through West Texas,” said Bob Papke, vice president of Live Entertainment – Theatres at SMG, in a press release.
