Toronto is launching an engagement program for staff, faculty and students within the city’s post-secondary institutions to share their ideas for housing opportunities.
The outreach is part of the Academic Housing Strategy, under the City’s HousingTO 2020-2030 Action Plan and the Housing Action Plan (2022-2026) to address challenges and ensure access to affordable housing options.
Participants can offer thoughts through an online survey, which closes on Friday, November 1. The city also plans on gathering insight and developing innovative solutions through onsite campus interactive sessions in October, focus groups and interviews with experts.
“Students, faculty and staff have the best advice when it comes to building housing to serve the academic community,” Mayor Olivia Chow said in a recent statement. “I look forward to hearing from students, teachers and all members of Toronto’s academic community on how we can align with the City’s housing targets, and how we can work together to engage the provincial and federal governments to build more homes.”
