Vancouver building bylaw now postponed to 2015

Thursday, July 17, 2014

Vancouver City Council has for a second time extended the implementation of the city’s new building bylaw, giving builders an additional six months — until Jan. 1, 2015 — to prepare. Vancouver’s existing building bylaw, previously due to be replaced on July 1, 2014, will remain in effect through to the end of this year.

According to city officials, in recent months, Vancouver has seen a sharp increase in building and development applications. The city is continuing to offer training sessions on its new building bylaw for any interested builders and professional groups.

These sessions will address the new Vancouver requirements, as well as revised owner undertaking letters, professional letters of assurance, penalties and the configuration of the bylaw.
