The Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA) has announced the silver award winners for the 25th annual Awards of Excellence. One silver award winner from each category will be chosen as the gold award winner during the gala dinner Oct. 17, at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
The silver award winners are:
- General Contractor over $40 Million: Graham Construction & Engineering (Aberdeen Square expansion); ITC Construction Group (2300 Kingsway Residence Ltd.); and Stuart Olson Dominion Construction Ltd. (Fort St. John’s Hospital and Residential Care Facility).
- General Contractor $15 Million to $40 Million: EllisDon Corp. (Transportation Management Centre); PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc. (Richmond Centre Food Court relocation); and Smith Bros. & Wilson (B.C.) Ltd. (Edmonds Pool and Community Centre).
- General Contractor up to $15 Million: EllisDon Corp. (Samuel Brighouse Elementary School); Stuart Olson Dominion Construction Ltd. (Vancouver Fraser Port Authority L 10K fit-out); and Task Construction Management Inc. (Okanagan Regional Library – New Vernon Branch).
- Electrical Contractor up to $2 Million: Houle Electric Ltd. (Saanich Peninsula Hospital Electrical upgrade); Protec Installations Group (Richmond Centre Food Court relocation); and Western Pacific Enterprises GP (Surrey Service Centre).
- Electrical Contractor over $2 Million: Canem Systems Ltd. (Edmonds Pool and Community Centre); Houle Electric Ltd. (Base Fire Hall and Emergency Response); and Western Pacific Enterprises GP (Mount Pleasant Substation building).
- Mechanical Contractor up to $3 Million: Airstream Heating & Air Conditioning Inc. (Richmond Centre Food Court relocation); PML Professional Mechanical Ltd. (Bell Media – CTV tenant improvements); and Trotter & Morton Building Technologies Inc. (Transportation Management Centre).
- Mechanical Contractor over $3 Million: Alpha Mechanical Contracting Ltd. (UBC Earth Systems Science building); Lockerbie & Hole Contracting Ltd. (CFB Esquimalt, FMF Cape Breton combined services, Phase 4); and Gisborne Industrial Construction (BC Hydro G.M. Shrum Generating Station Fire Protection upgrade project).
- Chairman’s Trade Award: Flynn Canada Ltd. (Fort St. John’s Hospital and Residential Care Facility); T. Moscone & Bros. Landscaping Ltd. (2300 Kingsway Residence Ltd.); and Whitewater Concrete Ltd. (Aberdeen Square expansion).
- President’s Trade Award: Apex Granite & Tile Inc. (Edmonds Pool and Community Centre); Horizon Landscape Contractors Inc. (RCMP “E” Division Headquarters relocation); and LMS Reinforcing Steel Group (Mount Pleasant Substation building).
- Manufacturer & Supplier: Flynn Canada Ltd. (Broadway Tech 4); Lafarge Canada Inc. (Mount Pleasant Substation building); and Structurlam Products Ltd. (Transportation Management Centre).
- Sustainable Construction Award: EllisDon Corp. (Samuel Brighouse Elementary School); Ledcor Construction Ltd. (UBC Pharmaceutical Sciences); and Solid Rock Steel Fabricating (Tubular Terror Slide complex).
The judging panel has already announced that the gold award in the category of Heritage Restoration will be given to the Haebler Group for its work on the Crofton House School – Old Residence.
