Travesia Apartments (Travesia), a 396-unit apartment complex in Austin, Texas, has been acquired by the Ontario-governed Starlight U.S. Multi-Family Core Fund (Starlight). Located at 3701 Quick Hill Rd., the 18-building development was purchased for $50.6-million U.S.

Starlight purchases Belle Haven Apartments

The previously announced acquisition of North Carolina’s Belle Haven Apartments by the Ontario-governed Starlight U.S. Multi-Family Core Fund (Starlight) has closed. Belle Haven Apartments, a group of seven three-storey, 176-unit garden style apartment complex, was purchased by Starlight for approximately $26.4-million U.S.

CAPREIT acquires Alberta apartment property

The Canadian Apartment Properties Real Estate Investment Trust (CAPREIT) has acquired Grandin Tower, a 126-unit apartment property in Edmonton, Alta. At the same time, the company also sold four Toronto apartment buildings located on Wilson Ave.

Allied REIT completes Duncan St. acquisition

Allied Properties REIT (Allied) has completed the acquisition of a 50 per cent interest in a property located at 19 Duncan St. in Toronto, Ont., which the company plans to develop into a mixed-use building including retail, rental apartments and five floors of office space.

Vancouver hotel to convert to student housing

A 17-storey luxury hotel in downtown Vancouver, known as the Viva Suites Hotel, has been acquired by CIBT Education Group’s (CIBT) wholly owned subsidiary, Global Education City Holdings Inc. (GEC), with the intent to convert it into a 230-bed student housing development for foreign students. The total value of the project, including purchase price and renovations, is approximately $37-million.

Milestone REIT to acquire Orlando apartment

Heritage on Millenia (Heritage), a 303-unit multi-family apartment community in Orlando, Florida, will soon be acquired by the Ontario-governed Milestone Apartments Real Estate Investment Trust (Milestone). Heritage will be purchased for $40.0-million U.S. and is expected to be fully acquired by March 31.

Ivanhoé Cambridge acquires 11 Calif. apartments

As part of an ongoing property aggregation strategy with partners Veritas Investments, Inc. (Veritas), Ivanhoé Cambridge has acquired 11 multi-residential properties in San Francisco, California. Together, the acquired properties represent a total investment of $190-million U.S. This brings the number of American properties jointly owned by the partners to 20.

CAPREIT acquires Dublin apartment portfolio

The Canadian Apartment Properties Real Estate Investment Trust (CAPREIT) has acquired an apartment portfolio in Dublin, Ireland, consisting of 270 residential suites and 50,214 square feet of mixed-use commercial space. The Rockbrook Portfolio, which was purchased for € 87.3-million, is the first acquisition that CAPREIT has completed under the previously announced “Pipeline Agreement” with Irish Residential Properties REIT plc (I-RES).

Mainstreet acquires $33.7-mil Surrey apartment

A 331-unit, five-building rental complex, located in Surrey, B.C., has been acquired by the Calgary-based Mainstreet Equity Corporation (Mainstreet). The property was purchased for $33.7-million and brings Mainstreet’s total Vancouver/Lower Mainland B.C. apartment portfolio to just over 2,700 units.

Canada Goose acquires Scarborough, Ont. facility

Canadian jacket and outdoor apparel manufacturer Canada Goose has acquired a 45,000-square-foot facility in Scarborough, Ont. to help the company meet increasing global demand. Canada Goose acquires the building from its long-standing partner, Grand Harbour Clothing. The new facility will be the company’s second manufacturing campus in the Greater Toronto Area.
