McGill celebrates Canada’s largest hospital move
In what has been described by the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) as the largest hospital move ever made in Canada, 154 inpatients, including 139 adults and 15 babies, were recently moved from the Royal Victoria Hospital to the university’s new Glen site. The five-and-a-half hour move was a key redevelopment operation of MUHC 2015.

Developers shortlisted for GTA hospital addition
Phase one of the Etobicoke General Hospital redevelopment is one step closer to reality as choices for potential developers and their respective design, build, maintenance and finance teams have been narrowed. The Patient Tower Project will be developed by one of three shortlisted candidates, including EllisDon Capital Inc., Fiera Axium Infrastructure Canada II LP and DIF Infra 3 Canada Ltd., and Plenary Group (Canada) Ltd and PCL Investments Canada Inc.

Saskatchewan long-term care centre now open
A $22-million long-term care facility has officially opened in Radville, Sask., six years after the provincial government announced it would be replacing 13 long-term care centres across the province. The Radville Marian Health Centre features 25 long-term care beds, five of which are multi-purpose (used for observation, respite or palliative care), and emergency services.

$2.5-mil medical clinic opens in Newfoundland
A new $2.5-million medical facility has officially opened near Boat Harbour on the Burin Peninsula, N.L. The 4,000-square-foot building, known as the Placentia West Medical Clinic (Placentia West), will provide medical and community health services to approximately 3,000 residents in the surrounding communities.

Casey House redevelopment enters construction
Casey House, a pioneer in HIV/AIDS health care and palliative care in Toronto, Ont., recently announced that construction of a 58,000-square-foot redevelopment project has begun at Jarvis St. and Isabella St. The $32-million development involves the renovation of an existing heritage property and the construction of a new and improved contemporary health care addition.
