A $22-million long-term care facility has officially opened in Radville, Sask., six years after the provincial government announced it would be replacing 13 long-term care centres across the province. The Radville Marian Health Centre features 25 long-term care beds, five of which are multi-purpose (used for observation, respite or palliative care), and emergency services.

$16-mil Sask. food centre receives federal support

A new $16-million Saskatchewan Food Industry Development Centre (Food Centre) is being financed, in part, by Growing Forward 2, a federal-provincial-territorial initiative. The new 30,000-square-foot facility will expand the province’s food ingredient processing sector, housing product development, specialized laboratory services, extrusion technology, interim capacity and more.

Sask. affordable housing complex officially opens

A $657,000, four-unit affordable housing development in Prince Albert’s West Flat neighbourhood has officially opened. The project, which was financed by the Government of Saskatchewan and the P. A. Community Housing Society Inc. (PACHSI), an Aboriginal housing provider, will provide rental housing for small families.

Social housing project opens in Saskatchewan

A new rental housing complex in Prince Albert, Sask. will help individuals with complex needs access safe and affordable housing. Funding for the project, which required a total investment of approximately $725,000, was provided by the Canadian government, the Province of Saskatchewan and the River Bank Development Corporation (River Bank). River Bank is a non-profit organization promoting social and economic development for low-income individuals in Prince Albert.

New manufacturing centre planned for Saskatoon

The Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME) and the Saskatchewan Polytechnic institution have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a Manufacturing Centre of Excellence in Saskatoon at the school’s campus. The new facility will focus on improving productivity, innovation and workforce development for the province’s manufacturing industry.

Feds provide funds for Saskatchewan projects

The Government of Canada is providing $436.7-million, through the Provincial Territorial Infrastructure Component (PTIC) of the New Building Canada Fund (NBCF), to the province of Saskatchewan for new projects. Of that sum, $196.5-million will be dedicated to provincial projects and the remaining $240.2-million will go to other eligible PTIC applicants.
