New, proposed revisions to the home warranty program

Kevin Brodie, director, condominium common element claims, Tarion Warranty Corp. addresses new and proposed changes to the Tarion program. These include a new framework for the major structural defect warranty, addendas to the delayed closing warranty and revisions to the construction performance guidelines for common elements. As well, he discusses revisions to Tarion’s customer service standard, which now also applies to claims made in respect of the common elements of a condominium project.

Leor Margulies, partner, Robins Appleby & Taub LLP provides a legal perspective on the new Tarion policies, many of which came into effect July 2012. Specifically, he addresses the impact changes to Tarion’s major structural defect and delayed closing warranties will have on builders.
